Newquay 2002 - James Terrett
A fantastic tour. For me the highlights were: The high performance of quality banter and piss-taking throughout the entire squad. I didn't know what to expect as a new member of the party, but was dazzled by the early form shown by my fellow tourists. Keen dead-pan delivery from Chris and Tom and more ruthless remarks from Fats and Dirty Jim made sure everyone got their fair share of abuse. You cannot underestimate the importance of this! It made me feel a very much loved member of the squad when I was constantly reminded of the utter mingingness of the first girl I pulled on an hourly basis the following day. That's when you know you have found real friends. Cricket wise, apart from a decent catch I was terrible. Luckily the remainder (apart from a few exceptions) were magnificent. I nearly cried when we won on the last day. My own abiding memory however, was of our leader Maxie. After abusing the bar staff at our hotel at 2:30 in the morning whilst pretty drunk about the lack of soap, Maxie decided that perhaps at that time of the day, he had been a little harsh and went over to apologise to the young female that other tourists were beginning to take a keen interest in. Expecting another argument the young lady's face hardened, but Maxie reconciliatory speech made her soften, until Maxie's offer of a handshake resulted in knocking over a pint of beer splashing all down her front. I nearly shat my kidney I laughed so much. A tour I'll never forget. Other perspectives: Jim Jarrett Tom Everest Andy Dyer |
